Obituary: Jeanne Gardner Lauze – Lewiston Sun Journal

Jeanne Gardner Lauze

AUBURN – Jeanne Gardner Lauze, 82, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021 at Clover Health Facility. She was born on May 12, 1939, in Auburn, from Arsène and Cécile (Bussière) Gardner. She was educated in the Auburn school system and graduated in 1958 from Edward Little High School. After graduation, she entered religious life with the Sisters of St. Joseph and received her Bachelor of Education from St. Josephs College, Standish. She taught as a sister for 13 years to Jay, Winslow, Waterville and Lewiston. In 1970, after leaving religious life, she met and married Richard W. Lauze and together they raised five children. Jeanne was a teacher in elementary and middle schools in Lewiston, Auburn, Durham and Norway. After earning her Masters in Education in the 1970s, she was Principal of Durham Primary School. In her later years she taught children with special needs in Norway until her retirement in 1994. She belonged to St. Phillip Catholic Church in Auburn, was a member of the Auburn Snowmobile Association, was a member of the Civilian Air Patrol and was a staunch Fan of the Patriots of England. She loved living on Crystal Lake in Canton. She is predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Richard W. Lauze (deceased June 5, 1995), her parents, Arsène and Cécile Gardner, and her in-laws William and Germaine Lauze. She is survived by her longtime companion, Norman Trenoweth, her siblings: Gerard Gardner and his wife Pauline, Paul Gardner and his wife Marnie, and Marguerite Gardner and her companion Will Solomon, MD; his children: Ann M. Brooks, MD and her husband Andy, Scott Lauze, MD and her husband Mark, Lisa Albert and her husband Kevin, Bill Lauze and his wife Lina, and Daniel Lauze and his wife Jennifer and 18 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. online condolences can be shared at http://www.thefortingrouplewiston.com. A Christian funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 29 at 11 am at St. Philips Church in Auburn. Engagement will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
